“Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God, the things that are God’s” (Mt 22:21). In focusing so much on capturing Jesus, the Pharisees and Herodians miss the most important point: give to God what is His due. We contend enough with concupiscence (the inclination to sin) that we don't need external forces to dissuade us from giving what is due to God. Therefore, during this election season, we as believers must seek to guarantee that our religious rights are protected. No longer can we be passive about our religious liberties being violated.
